Commercial Property On Sale
Not all real estate agents have the training and experience to assist a buyer in a commercial real estate transaction. In larger communities, it is common for real estate agents to specialize, dealing exclusively in residential or commercial properties. Some commercial agents specialize in specific types of commercial properties, such as an agent dealing primarily with apartment buildings and another in RV parks. In small communities, it is common for an agent to wear several hats effectively, dealing in both residential and commercial properties. Regardless of the size of the community, an effective commercial agent has training and experience specific to commercial properties.
Realtor Association’s Code of Ethics
While many real estate sales agents are Realtors, members of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a real estate professional association, it is common for commercial agents to be non-members, especially in larger communities. The NAR was established in the early 1900’s, in an attempt by founders to self-police the industry and raise the public’s perception of real estate professionals. New members are required to take an oath, vowing to follow the organization’s code of ethics.
