Distributive Property In Math
Estuarine environments are river mouths that have a sea outlet that runs inland, with seawater being diluted as it is moved up the semi-enclosed river. Seawater is diluted with fresh water that has been deposited by rainfall and seepage from the surrounding land.
Estuary Salinity
The salinity of the water is based on the seawater content:
- In a positive estuary there is less seawater infiltration, therefore salinity is less than the ocean, (for example, the Baltic Sea)
- In a negative estuary there is more seawater infiltration, therefore greater salinity from the ocean, (for example, the Mediterranean Sea)
Other classifications are based on shape and distribution of water properties. Coastal plane estuaries, for example, are often the result of drowned river valleys or sea level rise from flooding (the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Chesapeake Bay).
