Michigan Property Laws
On November 4th 2008 Michiganders made history when they passed the Medical Marijuana Act for the state of Michigan, making the medicinal use of marijuana legal in the state.
The Michigan Medical Marijuana Program, which is referred to as the MMMP is in charge of the registration process for patients and caregivers. In order to get your "green card" or to be a registered patient with the MMMP you must be a Michigan resident, pay the $100.00 application fee, you must have a qualifying debilitating medical condition, you must have an MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) recommend you for the program, you must have an established relationship with your MD or DO, and follow all the rules and guidelines set forth by the MMMP, as well as register with the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Qualifying medical conditions to become an MMMP member
The qualifying medical conditions required by the state of Michigan to become a registered member of the MMMP include, but are not limited to: cancer, hepatitis c, HIV, AIDS, glaucoma, Crohns Disease, Alzheimers, epilepsy, severe or persistent muscle spasms, and chronic pain. Basically, any persistent or chronic painful medical issue you may have can be enough for an MD or DO to recommend you for the program. You must be over the age of 18 to apply for a medical marijuana card, unless you have consent from your parent or guardian.
